THE QUEEN MOTHER - A ROYAL CENTURY is a comprehensive portrait of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, placing her life in the context of the twentieth century as a whole. The programme was made in 1999 in celebration of the Queen Mother's 100th Birthday.
As old as the century, the Queen Mother was a revered figure in British life. A symbol of courage in the Second World War and an icon of stability thereafter, the Queen Mother attracted a loyalty and affection matched only by the Queen herself. The Queen Mother died in 2002.
