Vansittart Road Recreation Ground

The WMBC Threat to Sell It Off a Third Time in 1989

In May 1989, the Friends of the Vansittart Road Recreation Ground were actively campaigning against The Windsor and Maidenhead Council plans to sell the recreation ground.

During the campaign, Gordon Cullingham, archivist and campaigner, wrote the following Anthem to the tune of Ten Green Bottles. Much to the annoyance of councillors, a tape of the anthem, recorded by the boys of Windsor Grammar School, was played!

The original of this beautifully written manuscript was prepared by Gordon's son, Mark Cullingham (1941-1995).
