Update 20th June 2001

4.30 Fun and Games

5.30pm. Official Opening

Over the past month we have attempted to draw attention to the disastrous and ill-conceived decision to install a Skate Park at Vansittart Road Recreation Ground. In our previous updates we have detailed at length, complete with illustrations, the problems that the facility has already caused. The various articles are listed here.

With the 'Official Opening Ceremony' now announced for Friday 13th July at 5.30, we suggest that this is an ideal opportunity to make our views clearly heard by all concerned.

We invite all concerned residents to be present at Vansittart Rec in the course of this opening ceremony and to lobby officials and councillors.

The fact of the matter is that the whole concept of a Skate Park in this part of town is generally agreed to be a mistake - and that includes councillors and borough officials.

It merely remains therefore to bring about the removal of the Skate Park to a more acceptable and appropriate location.

Update 6th July

A letter is distributed to local residents inviting them to the Official Opening.
